2000 Show & Shine Car ShowNew!Hot!

The Pensacola Classic Chevy Club was formed in the late 70's when the Classic Chevy movement became popular and promotes the restoration and preservation of Classic Chevrolets. We held our first show in 1983 and have had a Show & Shine every year since then. Most of the shows have been in September, but twice we have had the unfortunate experience of having uninvited wild women (hurricanes) threaten the show. So after a near miss in 1998 we moved the show back a month into October. This turned out to be a good move. October on the Gulf Coast is typically cool and dry which is perfect weather for a show.

Like many chapters, we have expanded our show to include the "Later Year" Chevys. This greatly enhanced our show this year and after several years of declining attendance we doubled the numbers of show cars this year. We had a fine mix of Cameros, Chevelles, Corvairs, Trucks, and Corvettes to compliment a large number of 567 Classics.

Our show usually draws fellow Chevy enthusiasts from nearby States. This year, Keith Marang enthusiastically brought his fine 56 all the way from Oklahoma. Bob Comstock from Memphis won the Best of Show award and Bobby Dye from Coffeeville Mississippi took the Peoples Choice Award. This demonstrates one of the nice things about Classic Chevy events and that's the opportunity to meet and become friends with people from all over the South. They visit us at our show and then we go visit our friends at their shows in nearby cities.

Note the Halloween theme in some of the pictures. One fella in the drivers seat needs to put on a little weight but after our Chili Feast on Friday night he left as a 250 pound heavyweight. The guy in the "superman" suit is known as "Chevyman" and is famous for showing up at PCCC events every now and then.

We will hold our 18th annual Show & Shine for 55-72 Chevys again this October on the 27th and 28th. Mark your calendar now and come on down to the Gulf Coast. We will feed you Friday night and put on a great Show & Shine on Saturday. The Chevy Show & Shine on Saturday will run from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Awards will be given out at 4:30 PM. Registration is $18 if before October 15 then $20. Vendor/swap space is free. For information call Herb Spies in Fort Walton Beach, FL at (850) 651-1074 or Buddy Ingram in Pensacola at (850) 587-2237.
